Queer representation incorporated at “Him”, character of “The Powerpuff Girls"

In audiovisual's history, minorities as LGBTQ+ people had been excluded or stereotyped, thus, this study has as a guiding question understanding “Him”, character of the classic cartoon series “The Powerpuff Girls”, produced between 1998 and 2005 by Cartoon Network - by the bias of the Queer Theory, which address the questions about non-heteronormative bodies that belong to marginalized groups whose rights are denied and their lives taken. For this, a documentary and exploratory methodology was used, based on the authors researches like: Guacira Louro, Judith Butler, Edgar Morin, besides the analysis of two episodes: Octil Evil and Bash Birthday. Thus, the problematizations arised here refer to: a) How the Queer is related to Him and its possible problems and b) The dialectic between the bodies discourses accepted and excluded from the heteronormative society.  The argumentation of this research is sustained by homophobia and transphobia brazilian datas, which reveals the urge to approach matters about gender and sexuality representations

Sob nova direção? A publicidade na era da programação e o publicitário deslocado // Under new management? The advertising in the programming era and the advertiser outsider

Este artigo propõe uma discussão sobre o ato de protesto simbólico dos funcionários da agência Leo Burnett de Chicago em que os funcionários cobriram o nome do seu fundador na fachada do prédio da agência com uma folha de papel onde lia-se “Marcel”. O protesto ocorreu após a proibição da participação da agência em premiações e festivais do setor, em favorecimento dos investimentos destinados à implantação da plataforma de inteligência artificial Marcel. Ao analisar a atitude dos publicitários da agência sob o viés da teoria crítica, é possível observar que as agências já vêm passando por um processo de automatização desde a década de 1970 e que essa medida apenas consolida um cenário que favorece a cultura da eficácia e o enfraquecimento da criatividade nos processos, cenário este que grande parte dos publicitários endossou até o presente momento. A própria agência Leo Burnett destaca-se nesse cenário com a sistematização da sua plataforma de trabalho através dos métodos de avaliação intitulado de GPC

A construção da imagem técnica no jogo da publicidade

Este artigo busca apontar as contribuições de Vilém Flusser para os estudos da publicidade. Para isso recorre à noção de imagem técnica para propor uma reflexão sobre o processo de concepção das imagens publicitárias, bem como aos conceitos de aparelho, programação e jogo para pensarmos a dinâmica deste processo e o contexto em que essas imagens são produzidas. A partir da perspectiva que Flusser oferece sobre o trabalho na era pós-industrial, é necessário pensar o publicitário alinhado à uma nova categoria: os “jogadores”; e como, por meio do conceito de jogo, é possível considerar novas conjecturas do trabalho criativo no ambiente publicitário

VIA CORPORIS: CONEXÕES ENTRE TRADIÇÕES ESOTÉRICAS, VIDA E BORDADO.

No presente trabalho será apresentado parte do processo de criação e elaboração da instalação produzida em arte têxtil Via corporis. Um processo de pesquisa em poéticas visuais. A criação dos bordados os quais denominam-se “peles”. No referencial estético trago as obras de Julia Panadés e Bené Fonteles, ambos artistas brasileiros que trabalham com arte têxtil e usam do conceito de sudário e ritual em seus processos artísticos. Apresento as possíveis relações de Via corporis com as esferas do ritual e da magia tendo como base as obras de Leonora Carrington e Bené Fonteles, apresentando outros artistas que também trouxeram para obras elementos do esoterismo. Concluindo a discussão com o conceito de profanação tratado por Giorgio Agamben. Em diálogo com esse texto observo que a instalação se constitui num limiar de transgressão tanto dos rituais de visitações de exposições de arte quanto do ritual da própria Via crucis, promovendo um atravessamento de ambas as esferas, da arte e do rito.  This paper will present part of the process of creation and elaboration of the installation produced in textile art Via corporis. The creation of embroideries which are called “skins”. In the aesthetic referential I bring the works of Julia Panadés and Bené Fonteles, both Brazilian artists who work with textile art and use the concept of shroud and ritual in their artistic processes. I present the possible relations of Via corporis with the spheres of ritual and magic based on the works of Leonora Carrington and Bené Fonteles, presenting other artists who also brought to their works elements of esotericism. Concluding the discussion with the concept of profanation treated by Giorgio Agamben. In dialogue with this text I observe that the installation is a threshold of transgression of both the rituals of visiting art exhibitions and the ritual of the Via Crucis itself, promoting a crossing of both spheres, art and rite

Evaluation of the genotoxicity and mutagenicity of Ca3SiO5-based cement

Abstract Ca3SiO5 is new cement based on the composition of Portland that has been developed to have superior physicochemical and biological properties. In a clinical evaluation, the cement did not appear to have cytotoxic properties and allowed for the proliferation of pulp cells and gingival fibroblasts. However, no previous studies have evaluated the genotoxicity or the mutagenicity of Ca3SiO5in vivo. Therefore, the goal of this study is to evaluate the genotoxic and mutagenic potential of Ca3SiO5-based cement in vivo. Twenty-four male Wistar rats were divided into 3 groups (n = 8). Group A rats received subcutaneous implantation of Ca3SiO5 in the dorsum. Group B rats received a single dose of cyclophosphamide (positive control). Group C rats received subcutaneous implantation of empty tubes in the dorsum (negative control). After 24 hours, all animals were euthanized and the bone marrow of the femurs was collected for use in the comet assay and the micronucleus test. The comet assay revealed that the Ca3SiO5 group had a tail intensity of 23.57 ± 7.70%, the cyclophosphamide group had a tail intensity of 27.43 ± 7.40%, and the negative control group had a tail intensity of 24.75 ± 5.55%. The average number of micronuclei was 6.25 (standard deviation, SD = 3.53) in the Ca3SiO5 group, 9.75 (SD = 2.49) in the cyclophosphamide group, and 0.75 (SD = 1.03) in the negative control group. There was an increase in the micronuclei frequency in the Ca3SiO5 group compared to that of the negative control group (p < 0.05). Our data showed that exposure to the Ca3SiO5-based cement resulted in an increase in the frequency of micronuclei, but no genotoxicity was detected according to the comet assay
